Did Yuvraj deserve Man of the Match award despite heartbreaking loss? New Delhi: Even though James Faulkner and Steven Smith played stupendous knocks to pull off a thrilling victory for Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Yuvraj Singh deserved the Man of the Match award for his marathon all-round show.

RCB were wobbling at 40/3, when Yuvraj came to the crease. The stylish southpaw added 132 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership with AB de Villiers in quick time. Yuvi smashed seven boundaries and as many sixes, in his 38-ball 83 and was dismissed off the final ball of the penultimate over.

Yuvraj weaved his magic with the ball as well as he scalped four big wickets for 35 runs during his spell. Such individual performances are a rarity in the IPL, and the Indian veteran should have been rewarded with the Man of the Match award for his heroic show.

Prior to this match, Yuvraj`s form was under scrutiny as he had scored just one half-century, in RCB`s first match of the season against Delhi Daredevils.

Yuvraj was bought for a whopping sum of Rs 14 crores by Royal Challengers Bangalore, which made him the costliest buy during IPL 7 auctions.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have struggled to find momentum right through this season, and the loss against Rajasthan Royals would further rub salt into their wounds.
